Today was the simplest blood draw yet - I went early and got it all done while Lil was at her school. It would have been much more simple if I hadn't decided he was acting weird by being extra sleepy this morning - it just wasn't normal for him to fall asleep in my arms after being a little fussy after only being awake for a little over an hour. I felt his forehead and it seemed warm (actually his whole head felt hot to me). His temperature (under arm) was 98.4 which really isn't something to raise too much concern over...but nonetheless he just struck me as not quite himself. Lil still has her cold and it is still very possible for him to come down with it. So Myers and I started to get really worried.
I called UVA while I was in the waiting room at RMH. The nurse advised me on how often to check his temperature and she told me to call anytime.
He slept until it was time for me to lay him down on the bed for his stick, which again, concerned me a little, as he usually wakes up when the car stops running. His blood draw went so smoothly, he hardly cried. Thankfully he seemed normal to me after the stick and I started to calm down at that point. The rest of the time at RMH he seemed to be just fine (I always nurse him and change his diaper after his blood draw so we were there for a little while after). His temperature was still 98.4 when I left RMH.
Arthur in the hall of RMH after his blood draw (I was trying to get the "outpatient" sign in the background). Hopefully this is one of his last visits |
I'm still watching him closely...his head just feels warm to me, but to be honest I have been saying that to Myers everyday for a while. I guess after Gwen feeling slightly concerned all the time can't be helped! We just had so few signs that anything was wrong...
Right now, as I'm typing this, Arthur is happily enjoying his play mat and Lillian is... cutting napkins with scissors, so I'll be signing off now!
I'm thankful to God - this is so what we needed this week of all weeks - a good number for Arthur and with that, something that is starting to look like a real steady trend!
Woo Hoo! I am rejoicing with you. Way to go Arthur! Love you all.
