| The view from Arthur's room |
Long story short; Arthur's neutrophils did not go up. On top of that there was redness at his umbilical cord site. Those two factors gave cause for the hematologist to decide erring on the side of caution was warranted.
It very well may not be infected, however if it is, with his neutrophil count severely low, he'd potentially have a difficult time wining the battle. So he was admitted to UVA pediatrics unit this evening. They are giving him two IV antibiotics and he received another dose of the stimulating factor for his neutrophils. We are okay...he was awake and alert a bit this evening...he really seems fine...this is all precautionary and feels that way... We don't feel worried just concerned. We really hope some neutrophils show up tomorrow!! We also hope that the possible infection at umbilical cord sight is decided not to be one...then we are only here 48 hours. We'll know more tomorrow. He looks and acts fine, so that is really good!

Arthur has an IV into a vein in his head.

He doesn't act sick.

JC showed this to Silas while I was still sleeping this morning. The first thing Silas said to me today was, "Want baby feel better. Want baby come home." He's very concerned and sad, and clearly thinking about you.
