He continued having "freak out" sessions throughout the night. Worst part is he acted like he didn't know how to latch. He nursed three times after his procedure but it took work to get him to latch. Then he wouldn't latch at all the whole night. He went from 11:00 till 6:30 without nursing.
We gave him Tylenol, then gas drops and more Tylenol... But nothing changed. He'd be asleep for a while then I'd wake him to nurse or to shift positions (I was his bed all night) and he'd wake unhappy act interested in nursing but act as if he forgot how to do it. Then he'd be really upset.
I got worried about neurotoxicity from the anesthesia...thanks to google. Doc figured all this behavior was pain at marrow puncture site and maybe some fussiness still from the anesthesia.
Now he has nursed twice this morning...but needs help latching.. I have him suck my finger then coax him to latch. So thankfully he is getting milk in him now.
Poor thing, on top of it all he has a tiny bit of diaper rash.. He stopped all antibiotics. Im glad for that but hoping his picc line does not get infected or the marrow site or well, I'm guessing even diaper rash is not good for him .
Finally, the numbers:
Newts: up to 90. (but 0-400 is all about the same, however it still feels better than zero).)
Platelets: down from 49 to 40. Not good and really the monkey wrench right now. We are here several more days on the platelets alone.
Hemoglobin: a little low
Docs haven't rounded yet, so I've no idea what hematologist will say.
Blog post later..Hopefully with preliminary bone marrow news.
